Urbandale remodels still hide copper behind plaster and paneling

Urbandale’s mid-century ranches and split-levels, especially near Merle Hay and the older grid south of Douglas, are repipe country. Bath fans, brass stops, and soft copper from baseboard heat come out together. If the copper is green and full of solder globs, say so — that is not bare bright, and pretending otherwise wastes a trip.

Commercial scraps show up along the retail strips when a shop changes hands: shelving, a walk-in cooler frame, a safe nobody wants. Those are steel and mixed metal. Gold jewelry from a household cleanout belongs on the gold page, with a photo, not tossed into the same trailer as a water heater.
